2009 Christmas Lectures: Cosmic alchemy - how are we made?

Clock icon
14:30 – 16:30 25 Nov 2009

Gulbenkian Theatre, University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NB

Speakers: Prof. Paddy Regan

How are the elements in our bodies created in the cosmic furnaces of the stars? The pseudo-science of alchemy, namely trying to create precious metals from base materials, can now be realised.
Using the knowledge of nuclear reactions and astrophysical processes in stars, we can determine how the material from which we are made was created.
For years 10, 11, 12 and 13.
