Deadline for entrants: 26th November
"3 Minute Wonder" is a competition that challenges researchers in physics-related fields (in industry or academia) to explain their work to the public in – you’ve guessed it – just three minutes.
Participants are scored by a panel of judges with points awarded for how well the idea is communicated. The winner and runner-up will receive a cash prize of £250 and £100 respectively, along with the chance to compete in next year’s grand final.
To find out more and to enter please visit www.iop.org/3MW – note that in order to enter the competition you will need to submit a short (50 word) abstract about your presentation via the webpage. Non-IOP members are also welcome to enter.
On the evening we will need an audience! This event is free and open to the public, we therefore encourage you to bring family and friends along to what will be an informative and entertaining evening of physics-oriented fun (to be in the audience please register by clicking on the link above)!
And, in case you needed anymore encouragement, Fran Scott has agreed to be on the judging panel - you may have seen Fran on BBC television or heard her on Radio 4.
