Speakers: Professor Ian Robson - University of Edinburgh (and UCLAN)

The talk will outline our place in the Universe, describe the discovery of active galaxies, give a simplified overview of the black hole - galaxy interaction, the difficulties of observation and how we now believe that activity in galaxies may be a natural part of evolution. We will look specifically at our Galaxy and the evidence for a supermassive black hole at its centre
