Speakers: Prof. Michael Bach

The term “optical illusions”, while standard, is a misnomer; optics generally don’t play a role, so “visual illusions” is more appropriate.
In the Bayesian interpretation, our visual system continuously “invents” an inner world as a basis for understanding incomplete information.
Occasional missteps of our perceptual apparatus are called optical illusions and can reveal these inner mechanisms.
IOP sponsored plenary talk open to all, event starts at 9:45am.
