The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) has been central to the defence of the UK for over 60 years, providing and maintaining warheads for the UK's nuclear deterrent and delivering national nuclear security. Naturally, in our business, physics is critical to our success, and our physicists are therefore respected as a vital asset.
Supported by mentoring from internationally renowned experts and provided with the flexibility to innovate, we nurture our staff into exceptional physicists. Working with universities, other laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities, AWE pushes the forefront of physics research.
If you are a motivated and bright graduate who relishes a challenge, please join us at the IOP–AWE careers evening to:
Find out more about the vast array of physics disciplines we research including but not limited to: applied physics, computer science, design physics, laser physics, mathematics, nuclear physics and plasma physics
Gain an insight into the work we do through technical presentations given by physicists.
Meet our scientists and discuss the range of benefits during and beyond our graduate scheme.
Attending AWE's careers evening will also give you the opportunity to talk one-to-one with the company's staff, learn about the career opportunities on offer, find out what skills to include on your application form/CV, and get advice and information about interviews and assessment days.
