Coffee and biscuits in the physics concourse from 6.00pm.
Modern archaeology has gone far beyond 'digging'. Scientific excavations are complemented by various methods originally developed in the natural sciences and now adapted to the requirements of archaeological research. The best known examples are pre-excavation geophysical surveys and post-excavation dating methods.
This presentation will highlight the reliance of archaeological understanding on scientific techniques and how they have become mainstream tools.
