Branch meeting, all are welcome. There will be light refreshments from 18:30 and the talk starts at 19:00.
Today’s blue-sky material research is the basis for tomorrow's applications. In the last century it was the physics of semiconductors that led to today’s computers, mobiles and the Internet – thus revolutionising our way of life. The technologies of the next century are
hoped to be built on materials we are just starting to understand and in which electrons behave in new and exotic ways.
In this lecture some of these exciting materials will be discussed, as well as new insights in the field of low temperature solid state physics.
