Speakers: Dr Suzanne Gildert, University of Birmingham

Currently, computers such as desktop PCs and mobile phones require their circuits to be made smaller and smaller in order to improve the performance. As these devices are made smaller, they are prone to overheating and failure. However, 'quantum' circuits are made of building blocks called QUBITS (quantum-bits), and do not suffer from as many of these problems.
Refreshments from 19:00.
