Cold & Dark by 2050? How sustainable is our energy consumption?

Clock icon

Weston Auditorium, De Havilland Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield. AL10 9EU

Speakers: Peter Guthrie, John Loughhead, Prof. Goran Strbac

By 2050 our planet’s population is expected to reach 9 billion people and our demand for energy at current rates of growth will be two and a half times that of today. How are we to match supply against demand in a world already post ‘peak oil’ and with an increasing proportion of intermittent renewables in our energy mix?

This evening seminar is the seventeenth Annual Prestige Seminar organised by EEESTA (East of England Engineering, Science and Technology Association) as a joint event with various professional science and engineering Institutions

The seminar is preceded by registration, refreshments and a networking opportunity from 18:00, and ends with a chaired discussion session when the audience can put forward their questions to the speakers.  The evening ends at 21:30.
