Speakers: Dr Kirsty McKay, University of Liverpool

The word plasma is often coupled with the words blood or fusion. In this talk, I want to introduce technological plasmas. These plasmas operate at room temperature and at atmospheric pressure, and are used in many different applications. For example, they can be used for biological applications, such as wound healing and sterilization, surface-modification and surface-analysis applications.

Event type: Lecture/Talk
Organised by: Institute of Physics Merseyside Branch
Contact details: We offer a wide-ranging and exciting programme with talks by scientists who are established leaders in their field. Evening events normally start at 6.30 p.m. with tea and coffee available from 6.00 p.m. All are welcome. Only school events require advance booking. It would be useful if teachers planning to bring small groups of interested students to evening events would contact one of the branch officers in advance.
