Speaker: Mr Mark Wrigley FInstP

Demonstrating what low cost disruptive technologies can do to empower the citizen scientist, the Disruptive Technology Telescope (PiKon) combines 3D printing with a Raspberry Pi computer and camera to create a low cost home built astro-cam. The project, originally conceived for Sheffield University's 'Festival of the Mind', has attracted world wide interest and gone on to be crowd funded and stimulated a community of users who have devised their own improvements and shared images. This talk will tell the story of PiKon, demonstrate its use as well as a demonstration of 3D printing.

A buffet will be served half an hour before the commencement of the lecture
