Today’s UK digital radio is DAB – digital audio broadcasting. However, a different digital radio system called digital radio mondiale (DRM) is being trialled for short, medium and long wavebands. This provides more channels and FM-comparable sound quality, unlike AM stations.
This talk will outline the principles behind DRM and report on the trial broadcasts and the plans for the future. It is held jointly with the IET.
