The "Droplet and flow interactions with bio-inspired and smart surfaces" Special Interest Group (SIG) of the UK Fluids Network (https://fluids.ac.uk/) would like to invite you to a free industry event where we will discuss your industrial research needs and challenges, showcase our research capabilities and discuss how these may be combined for mutual benefit.
With over 60 researchers from 11 UK universities, this multidisciplinary SIG focuses on engineered surfaces inspired by nature that alter flow and motion of liquids whether as droplets or in internal flow (channels, pipes, etc) or external flow (past surfaces), utilising multidisciplinary expertise (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Micro-engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Microsystems, Physics). The event aims to:
* Provide a forum for our existing and potential industrial partners to hear about our research capabilities and expertise and find out how they align to their current and future requirements.
* Give industry the opportunity to inform us of their existing challenges and future research needs.
* Provide networking opportunities both for industry and academics.
* Explore possible opportunities for future projects and collaborations. The plan is for a short welcome from the chairman of the SIG, Prof G McHale, followed by an overview of our current research capabilities within the SIG. This would be followed by short talks (~10 mins) by industry and academia of current and future needs and challenges. We strive to include as many contributors as possible, so let us know if you would like to give a presentation on registration.
