Many body systems are very hard to describe due to the exponential increase of parameters with the number of constituents. Tneso network states and, in particular, project entangled-pair states (PEPS), provide an alternative method to describe such systems. In this talk I will show how all thermal states of local Hamiltonians at any finite temperature can be efficiently described in terms of PEPS. I will also explain som of the consequences of this result.
