A student begins on a physics degree; how do we make sure that this student reaches his/her full potential during the course of his/her studies? What are the pedagogical and support structures that meet the needs of a variety of learners with different backgrounds and aspirations? The meeting will include contributions on issues associated with students from under-represented communities and those with special educational needs. However, we stress that this is a general question appropriate to each student on a programme. Meeting (at least partially) the needs of every learner requires compromise and we will discuss the nature of this together with areas of best and innovative practice. Talks will be given by nationally recognised practitioners, those who have conducted research relevant to this topic,
and by students themselves.
