The Mexican Physical Society (SFM) and the Institute of Physics (IOP) are jointly organising a five-day workshop for science and engineering students and graduates in Central America that are interested in developing entrepreneurial skills.
This five-day intensive workshop is designed for students, scientists and engineers from across Central America that are interested in gaining entrepreneurial skills to commercialise their scientific ideas and inventions. Participants will benefit from the international perspective and insights from leading experts and fellow delegates from Central America.
The purpose of the workshop is to introduce students, scientists and engineers in Central America to the process of innovation, generation and protection of intellectual property, technology transfer and the commercialisation of ideas and inventions. The workshop will comprise lectures and interactive sessions delivered by national and international experts, group discussion and group projects.
The workshop will focus on the importance of networking; opportunity and value assessment; intellectual property and patenting; business model canvassing and business plan fundamentals; technology readiness levels; business financials; pitching for cash; presentation and communication skills. Sessions will also explore the main problems that face Central America, how science and technology can be used as a solution and how solutions can be commercialised.
Students, scientists and engineers throughout Central America are welcome to attend and there are 50 places available on the workshop. Sessions will be conducted in English so a good working knowledge of English is required.
