The SW branch is sponsoring the event “Exploring Plasma Universe” at the Cheltenham Festival. We have block booked a number of seats which we will be able to give free to branch members wishing to attend the event. Please email chair-sw@physics.org to request tickets (normally at most 2 tickets per member).

Exploring Plasma Universe: We all know about three states of matter – gas, liquid, solid – but there is another state called plasma, which behaves in strange and beautiful ways. Lightning, stars, the Aurora, neon signs, and fluorescent tubes are all made of plasma, but what is this stuff that makes up 99.999% of the visible universe? Kate Lancaster, Melanie Windridge and Lucie Green show striking images and explore the wonder of this strange state of matter. http://www.cheltenhamfestivals.com/find-events/science/s14-exploring-plasma-universe
