Navigating changes to the secondary curriculum is a key part of every teacher’s role, but for many these developments can be difficult to navigate and even more difficult to introduce in the classroom.
These free, practical workshops open to all teachers, bring together exam board experts and Science, Maths and English subject leads – who will be discussing the changes to the curriculum for 2015 and 2016 - giving you the opportunity to improve your understanding of your subject’s curriculum, quiz the experts and develop practical ways of implementing them. There will also be a chance for you to network with peers afterwards.
Sheila Curtis - STEM Education Centre London, UCL Institute of Education's, Sheila Curtis, will review the current thinking on why we should do practical work in science.
Elise Reece - AQA Qualifications Manager (Science), Elise will outline the main changes ahead in terms of how practical skills are going to be assessed.
Dr Jasper Green - Network Lead for Science at Ark. Jasper has worked in science and science education for the past ten years. He was previously Head of Science in a large inner-London academy and before that worked as a teacher, Head of Chemistry and A Level examiner. He will lead a discussion into how we can implement curriculum changes back in the science labs.
