Prof. Brian Williams

Emeritus Professor of Geology, University of Aberdeen

The Earth has undergone several glacial episodes, of varying lengths of geological time and area of planet-cover, throughout its history but none so globally-overwhelming as Snowball Earth (710 - 630 million years ago)

Brian’s talk will travel back in time from our "modern" glacial environments (Quaternary to Tertiary) to the Permo-Carboniferous era (350 - 250 million years ago) drawing on his research in Australia, Arabia and Oman. Finally, we will end up with the spectacular "Snowball Earth" with many examples to show from around the world!

Tickets are free but must be obtained in advance from the Huntingdon Hall Box Office: 01905 611427
