In the decade since graphene was first isolated it has progressed from starting as a scientific curiosity to becoming the driving force behind one of the most active research areas today. In this talk we will explore the fundamentals of graphene science, the ongoing cutting-edge research into the new class of two-dimensional materials and touch on just a few of their possible uses in applications such as aviation, transparent electronics and water filtration.
