Speakers: Dr Vincent Smith MBE

The talk will describe why we 'need' the Higgs boson, and its theoretical prediction over 50 years ago. Dr Vincent Smith will cover how it was searched for, and the discovery finally made at CERN in 2012. The talk is aimed at students and adults with an interest in physics, but will not require any mathematical expertise.
