Assessment is arguably the most important driver in student learning. Traditional assessment may not necessarily be a good indicator of student understanding and may promote surface learning. This event will focus on innovative approaches to assessment that aim to encourage deep learning. Presentations will focus on assessing inquiry-based learning, authentic assessment, using technology to enhance assessment opportunities, question formats that specifically target students' scientific reasoning abilities rather than just the physics content and team-based assessment using the immediate feedback assessment technique.
