The Very Early Career Woman Physicist of the Year Award winner will be announced at a special event on Wednesday 27th May in London. There will be light refreshments from 12.30 with a workshop on outreach beginning at 2pm, with speakers Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Dr Carolin Crawford and Dr Liz Ainsbury. Following a break for tea/coffee, the shortlisted candidates will present talks about their work at 4 pm, followed by the announcement of the winner and presentation of the £1000 prize, sponsored by Shell. The event will end by 5 pm.
The speakers are all recognised for their outstanding work on outreach:
Carolin Crawford (Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge) was named as one of the Outstanding Women of Achievement this year, an honour also bestowed on Maggie Aderin-Pocock (founder and Managing Director of Science Innovation Limited) in 2006, while Liz Ainsbury (Health Protection Agency) was the winner of the 2007 Very Early Career Woman Physicist award. There will be opportunities to share in discussions on this important and multi-faceted topic and to share your views and experiences.
