The Very Early Career Woman Physicist Prize is the Women in Physics Group’s flagship award and is now in its 7th year. The award of £1000, donated by Shell, is given to a female physicist, working in academia or industry, who is within five years of her first degree in physics. It rewards excellence in scientific work as well as in outreach and all shortlisted candidates are inspiring role models for young women physicists. The four shortlisted candidates for the 2013 Prize are:
Anne Pawsey, University of Edinburgh
Alice Taylor, University of Oxford
Stephanie Walton, Imperial College London
Rachel White, Imperial College London
Each of the shortlisted candidates will speak about their work and outreach experiences before the prize is awarded to the winner. The event will be held on Wednesday 16th October 1330-1600, at the Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place and the Women in Physics Group’s AGM will conclude proceedings.
