Speaker: Beth Warnock, National Grid

Title: Future Operations of the Electricity Network

Abstract: Growth of low carbon and renewable generation, closures of conventional thermal power stations and changing interactions across the whole of the power system are changing our energy landscape and how we operate the electricity system. This talk will take you through the challenges the Electricity System Operator is facing in operating the network in the future, what's causing it and our next steps towards a low carbon future.

Notes: Tea and coffee will be available in the Lennard Jones Foyer from 6.30p.m. Talks start at 7.30pm and are followed by Q&A. These talks, which are FREE to attend and open to the public, are sponsored by the West Midlands Branch of the IoP. There is ample car parking space on campus, which is free during the evening.
