Speakers: Prof. Hideo Ohno

Spintronics is one of the emerging fields in condensed matter physics and has been utilised intensively in magnetic recording, i.e. hard disk drives. In spintronics, Japan has a leading position in high-quality film growth and device fabrication. The UK leads in characterisation and modelling.
This symposium will offer an excellent opportunity for both the UK and Japanese researchers, including students and postdocs, to access the latest research outcomes and to discuss their results with the world-leaders. It will also encourage future collaborations under the funding schemes to be presented by JSPS, EPSRC, JST and Royal Society. These collaborations will be sought during the symposium dinner and laboratory visits.
