Aim to be at Rainham Station by 11:00. This is the final section of the 152 mile walk. Unfortunately the first mile from the station till we meet the Thames is through an industrial site.
The remainder of the walk is along the bank of the Thames. The section past Coldharbour is now open. We pass the remains of the concrete barges originally used to construct the Mulberrry harbour that supported the D-Day landings.
Lunch and celebratory drink will be at the Royal Hotel in Purfleet. When we were there in March it was being refurbished (in anticipation of our visit!).
Bird watchers can visit the near by Rainham Marshes Reserve complete with grazing cattle. Purfleet is one station outside zone 6! For those who have completed the whole loop, http://www.walklondon.org.uk/route.asp?R=1 provides the link to getting your certificate.
Latecomers can contact David Pick on +44 (0) 773 355 5113 to find out where we are.
