Speakers: Dr Gillian Butcher

From the earliest civilisations, mankind has looked at Mars and wondered what it is like.
With advances in science and technology, from the invention of telescopes to probes and landers, each generation has gained new insights into the planet.
In this talk I will discuss Mars exploration through history, including my own involvement in the Beagle2 lander, to more recent and future missions.
I will also ask whether when we look for Mars we truly see it as it is or as we want to see it.
