As part of an IOP funded outreach project, Ewa and Karczewska and Marta Caballero, both recent Physics and Medical Physics graduates from UCL, traveled to Ghana over the past summer to do a project in collaboration with UCL’s paRTner initiative; an initiative to develop a training program for hospitals in Ghana who have recently acquired a number of linear accelerator radiotherapy machines but currently lack the expertise to use them. We present our experiences and insights into how the efforts of many are changing Radiotherapy in West Africa. These efforts range from the development of cancer awareness resources for use in local schools to helping Medical Physics graduates obtain clinical experience in their country and internationally.
Tea/Coffee and Biscuits will be served from 7pm and the lecture will start at 7:30pm. The lecture is open to all, including children and non-members.
