The Institute of Physics in Ireland would like to invite members of the physics community to a meeting in the Royal Irish Academy to discuss a response to the recent announcement by Minister Sean Sherlock of a review of Ireland's international engagement on research and innovation, with particular attention to the costs and benefits of joining CERN.
It has been proposed that the physics community make a joint submission to the Minister, outlining the benefits of CERN membership. Anyone who would like to contribute to the submission document is cordially invited to attend a planning meeting, to be held on Friday, March 7th, at 2pm in the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss an overall strategy and agree a format by which all interested parties, both those currently involved in activities at CERN as well as those that could benefit in the future, can contribute.
Please could you bring this notice to the attention of anyone who may be interested? To facilitate remote participation, we will arrange a video-conferencing link. For planning purposes it would be helpful if you could email firstname.lastname@example.org if you intend to attend or wish to participate remotely.
