Speakers: Dr Helen Heath

For the past 15 years Dr Heath has been involved in the construction of part of the CMS experiment which is now studying collisions of protons at the Large Hadron Collider. As the Large Hadron Collider improves in performance we are retracing the history of particle physics and our understanding of the fundamental constituents of matter; effectively rediscovering some old friends. Dr Heath will discuss complexity of the detectors needed to study the fundamental particles, show some of the latest events and discuss what might be to come.
Coffee will be available from 19:00, and the talk will begin 19:30.
