Professor David Sanderson, Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre, will talk about the main physical, chemical and biological methods for detecting irradiated foods together with an indication of their main characteristics and applications. The presentation includes an outline of more than 20 years of experience applying the luminescence methods to detection on unlabeled products in the market place, and will provide an opportunity for discussion of how to balance consumer preferences with the requirements of the regulatory framework and supply chains.
