This talk reviews the important contribution which the physics community has made, and is making, to the treatment of cancer .The main focus will be on standard radiotherapy techniques using beams of high energy X-rays, and new treatment techniques using beams of high energy protons and carbon ions. The role of very novel techniques such as Boron neutron Capture Therapy will also be explained, and recent developments in Birmingham described.
