Aristotle, Copernicus, Newton and many other scientists also made important
contributions to economics and finance. Much of this work was forgotten during
the industrial and quantum revolutions, but the application of physics to social and
economic problems is presently undergoing a rebirth following new understanding of
so-called complex systems. This talk will explore aspects of this recent work and show
how physics is giving new insights into finance, economics and social science.
