Ever wondered why ultra-violet light will give you sunburn, while infra-red will just warm you up?
How light can behave like both a particle and a wave? If you have, then come and find out why for FREE at PhysicsFest 2011.
The Institute of Physics East Anglia Branch will be looking at these and other questions aimed at young people aged 8 to 18.
At the event there will be lots of interesting activities to get stuck into, including a planetarium, rocket building and plenty of other hands-on experiments.
The day will also have two talks, “Tripping the light fantastic” and “The Great Space Elevator”, which will look at how nanotechnology can help us explore space!
Last year we brought PhysicsFest to Claydon High School for the first time, having run many successful hand-on science events at Cambridge University’s world famous Cavendish Laboratories.
Thanks to an amazing turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback we are returning to Claydon High School again this year, with new talks and more hands-on experiments.
There’ll be lots to see and do for all the family so come on down to PhysicsFest 2011.
