Clock icon
18:00 – 21:00 17 Oct 2012
Location icon
Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place, London, W1B 1NT

Speakers: Professor Wade Allison

Ever since the Cold War with its threat of nuclear holocaust, radiation has been held in awe. But very few people die in nuclear accidents and the scientific basis of radiation safety is ripe for fundamental re-examination, not because of an expansion of nuclear power, but because it asks the wrong questions."
Event start 6.30pm. Tea/coffee from 6pm.
Wade Allison is Professor Emeritus at Oxford University. He is a nuclear and medical physicist with no connection to the nuclear industry. He is the author of "Radiation and Reason: the impact of science on a culture of fear”. He has recently returned from a visit to Fukushima.
