IN THIS DISCOURSE Professor Chris Bean will discuss why interpretations of Earth sensing data can be open to large uncertainties, putting precise predictions of the timing and size of future events such as volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis out of reach and falling short of scientific and sometimes public expectations.

PROFESSOR CHRIS BEAN is currently Senior Professor of Geophysics and Director of the School of Cosmic Physics, at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and previously he was Professor of Geophysics at the School of Geological Sciences, University College Dublin.
