Speakers: Richard Hall, BEng CEng MICE MCIWEM

Water companies are among the UK’s biggest users of electricity, but the water industry has numerous opportunities for generating its own electricity from hydro, biogas, wind and other sources.
Richard Hall, Energy Manager at Yorkshire Water since 2006, will describe these power sources compared to the scale of energy use and cost within the industry, highlighting the importance and benefits of company generation. He will go on to consider the economic drivers for different types of generation and the impact of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and Feed-in Tariffs (FITs).
Finally he will discuss how generation policy and development is affected by both the energy and water industry regulators: Ofgem, Ofwat and the Environment Agency.
This is our second joint event with the Energy Institute and the Institute of Chemical Engineers and provides an excellent networking opportunity across the disciplines. We hope to see you there – there is no charge to attend, but please register by emailing peter.hodgson@tatasteel.com
