This is the first of a series of sessions available through the Stimulating Physics Network Programme, hosted by Thornden School in their new role as Stimulating Physics Network Link School.
The aim is to set up a network of schools to develop a ‘hub of excellence’ whereby Physics teaching is discussed and evaluated and good practice is shared regularly.
Thornden will be hosting CPD sessions led by Neil Atkin, Teaching and Learning Coach for the Programme which will support the plans of the hub, outlined below:
• develop Physics subject knowledge across departments by doing Physics problem solving ‘lessons’ (modelling what lessons for pupils should be like)
• develop consistency across schools in terms of how to teach energy, forces etc
• identify and map the progression of the fundamentals of energy/forces from KS3 to KS4
• identify application questions/challenges for pupils to apply these fundamentals in lessons.
The initial meeting will be held at Thornden School on Tuesday 20th January 3.30-5.30pm and is open to anyone that would to attend.
