Sixth Form Seminar: High Energy Particle Physics

Speakers: Dr. Ben Still

Year 12 and 13 students will be given the opportunity to hear leading experts in the field of particle physics talk about their research. Dr. Ben Still will introduce the topic by speaking about the ‘Standard Model’, giving the students an overview of what physicists think matter is made up of.
Then, students will find out about the exciting new field of GRID computing, as well as seeing exciting demonstrations explaining how particle accelerators work, and helping the group understand some of the biggest problems in physics today.
