Soft tribological contacts are all around us, with obvious examples being tires, windscreen wipers, and skin. In addition to this, there are a multitude of soft contacts within the human body. There are clearly many practical benefits associated with compliant surfaces, such as large contact areas and low pressures. However, the study of soft contacts is often challenging due to the complexities that arise from highly deformable, dissipative, and non-reflective components. This one day meeting will focus on new research that tackles these challenges. Presentations cover areas ranging from the tribology of cartilage to windscreen wipers. The methods described are both modelling and experiment
