SPS Event: Different for Girls?

Clock icon
19:00 – 22:00 2 Apr 2014
Location icon
The function room of The Rutland Arms, Brown Street, Sheffield S1 2BS
(Note: The Rutland Arms NOT the Rutland Hotel which is elsewhere in Sheffield)

For more than 25 years, only around 20% of students progressing on to A-level physics have been girls, despite about equal success between the genders in GCSE physics and science.

• What are the findings of the most recent research by the Institute of Physics?
• Which strategies were effective in the Stimulating Physics pilot?
• What IOP resources can be used in your teaching?

As usual, there’ll be the chance to network with other trainees and physics teachers at the start of their careers and there may even be another of the now famous physics quizzes later in the evening.  Buffet and drinks courtesy of IOP.

Please note that this is a Stimulating Physics Support (SPS) event aimed at trainee and recently qualified physics teachers.  For more info on the SPS programme please follow the link above.
