An event aimed at all who are involved in the teaching of physics
There will be a range of activities:
– a “Make and Take” run by the IOP’s Gerry Blake on “Bristle-bots” – all participants will take their own bristle-bot away with them
– a session entitled “What Happens Next?” on simple but unusual practical demos which illustrate Physics concepts, run by Angela Forrest (also IOP)
– a tour of the research labs and semiconductor fabrication facilities at the site
– and a large selection of useful free resources to take away, from the IOP
But most importantly, we aim create an informal network which will continue to work together on the development of good teaching and learning in Physics, in a time when considerable curriculum change is approaching. It will also give the Ipswich IOP group an opportunity to publicise our on going programme of physics talks and events (free to all) which we aim at students, teachers and any other interested parties in the area.
Recent talks have included the topics of “Detecting Neutrinos”, “Bionic Implants”, “Electronics and the Environment” and “The Physics of Gemstones”.
There will be food provided and refreshments. Parking available on site.
Registration is required and you will need to provide your full name before being allowed access to site.
please email S Snowden SDS@northgate.suffolk.sch.uk to confirm attendance.
