Darwin Lecture Theatre 1, University of Kent, Canterbury, CT2 7NZ

Speakers: Dr Frances Saunders

Everyone knows that the UK leads the world in research. Successive governments have
looked at how to translate this extraordinary wealth into financial wealth by creating new
business or making existing business more competitive. Dr Saunders hopes to stimulate
debate about why translational research is important and how to make sure that great
science does not just sit on the shelf, waiting for others to lift it off and gain benefits that
should be ours.
