Speakers: Prof Peter Kalmus

In the 1960s and 1970s a theory was developed which unified two seemingly very different fundamental forces: electromagnetism and the weak interaction. A crucial test of the theory was to see whether two hypothetical particles existed. A description of their discovery at CERN will be given by one of the participants.
Car park near the lecture theatre. The theatre entrance can be found on the A340 Basingstoke to Newbury road, just before the Heath End Roundabout at Tadley.
P.I.P. Kalmus OBE is an Emeritus Professor of Physics at Queen Mary University of London and was made an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Physics in September 2011.
