Speakers: Professor Peter Watkins

Professor Peter Watkins of Birmingham University works at the LHC on the ATLAS experiment. In this lecture, he will talk about the search for extra dimensions and the excitement of crashing a billion protons a second into each other......and then analysing the outcome.
Have you ever wondered about the world’s largest particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN? What is it? What are scientists trying to find out? How do they go about it?

If you can’t visit CERN then the chance to meet Professor Watkins and to ask questions about his work must be the next best thing. This is the final lecture of the series
Refreshments will be available after the event.
