London Fieldworks is a partnership formed by artists Bruce Gilchrist and Jo Joelson to enable creative research and collaboration at the art, science and technology intersection. Their projects are informed by complex relationships between social, natural and technological worlds. They create artworks, performative architectures, films, publications, exploring our engagement with environment and our relationship to matter through the capture and translation of data.
In this talk as part of the International Year of Light, artist Jo Joelson will introduce projects that interface art with science and use the medium of light. These will include Polaria, a virtual daylight environment created using data collected in north-east Greenland; Little Earth a collaboration with the University of Leicester that resulted in a multi-channel film work and The Library of Light, a special collection for the interdisciplinary investigation of light.
