The mechanics of the golf swing

Pre-lecture reception with sherry/soft drinks at 7pm and the talk will begin at 7.30pm.
Established notions of golf swing mechanics, largely arising from an arm/club or double-pendulum view of the swing, are reviewed critically. Simulations show that a model swing can replicate photographic sequences of expert golfers from the past, and the optimally-matched simulations indicate how the golfers applied their muscular effort through the downswing.
