The optics of very small stuff

Speakers: Dr Gregory Wurtz, KCL, London

Abstract:
I will give a broad introduction to the optics of nano-objects, that is,
objects as small as one billionth of a metre across. At this scale, how
does the shape, the size and the environment of these objects, or even
the way we observe them, change their colour or give the illusion of
their absence? These are a few of the questions that will be answered in this presentation.
