The Institute of Physics’ East Anglia Branch would like to invite you to “The Physics of Superheroes” – a talk by Prof. Alan Davies.
The talk will look at a wide variety of superheroes, demonstrating how their ‘unbelievable’ powers are often not as incompatible with the laws of physics as they might first seem.
By considering Newton’s law of gravitation and diamagnetism, Prof. Davies will be able to answer such questions as, “how strong is Krypton’s gravity?” and “just what exactly allows Magneto to levitate?”.
On the evening, these issues and many more of your favourite superheroes will be discussed, covering a wide range of physical phenomena along the way.
Admission to the event is free with tea and coffee being served from 18:00. Non-members are welcome and the IOP encourages you to bring family and friends to what will be a night of physics fun.
